ISLAMABAD - The POF Sports Control Board & Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) will jointly organise the 3rd Asian Kabaddi (Circle) Championship 2016 for Chairman POF Cup from April 27 at POF Sports Complex, Wahh Cantt.

This was announced by POF Sports Control Board President Dr Aamir Murad in a press conference held at POF Thursday, while Asian and Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Secretary Rana Muhammad Sarwar, Col Muhammad Inam and Tauqeer Ahmad were also present on the occasion. Informing the media about the mega event, Murad said eight teams including India, Iran, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Afghanistan and Pakistan would participate in the championship. Pakistan is the defending champion and a training camp for the national team would be established at POF or Islamabad Sports Complex next week, around 20 top national players from different departments would be invited for the camp and national captain would be announced after the trials, he added.

Murad said the teams of all these countries had accepted the invitation and hoped that they would participate in the championship. “We would welcome all these teams at POF Wah and participation of these teams in the championship would convey a message that sports environment in Pakistan is most suitable and feasible and it would certainly help enhance the soft image of the country at international level.”

Sarwar told the media that Pakistan Kabaddi Federation is continuously holding various events of kabaddi for the promotion of this game in Pakistan.
