PCB changes status of DCA DG Khan

LAHORE - The PCB has decided to tag District Cricket Association (DCA) DG Khan with DCA Multan on account of various grounds. PCB spokesman said since last three years, no district championship had been held in DG Khan. According to the PCB constitution, every DCA is required to hold not less than two cricket tournaments in every calendar year. “That fresh scrutiny of clubs after six years i.e. due in October 2016 could not be carried out as the scrutiny criterion has been frustrated due to non-arrangement of the district championship since last six years. Therefore evaluation/assessment regarding status of club on the touchstone of this criterion will not be possible.” As DCA DG Khan has miserably failed to perform its duties, therefore, it shall now be controlled by DCA Multan till further orders.–Staff Reporter

PJA elects office-bearers

LAHORE - Mahmood Naveed and Shahid Javed were elected as president and secretary of Punjab Judo Association (PJA) here at the general council meeting of the body here on Friday. Representatives belonging to all the affiliated units of the PJA attended the meeting which elected the office bearers for a fresh term of four years. M Malek Butt (Faisalabad), Syed Muzammil Hussain (Bahawalpur), Sabir Hussain (Sahiwal) and Noureen Mazhar (Women’s Association) were elected vice presidents, M Usman (Gujranwala) joint secretary, Pervaiz Iqbal (Rawalpindi) treasurer, Dr Imtiaz Akram (Lahore), Faiz Rasool (DG Khan), M Mudassir (referee association), Habib Ullah (Faisalabad), Faiz Raza Bajwa (Multan), Sidra Arooj (Sargodah) and Wardah Javed (women’s association) were elected members executive committee. The house also formulated the program for the first two quarters of this year which included holding of Punjab Judo Championship for men from April 9 in Faisalabad and Punjab Women Judo Championship in Lahore from April 2. A coaching camp will be held in Lahore from March 12 in which players from Punjab will be invited. The belt examinations will be conducted in May.–Staff Reporter

Annual sports of City School held

ISLAMABAD - The City School junior section E-11 campus conducted annual sports day at its campus on Friday. The event was full of enthusiasm with spectacular display of students’ skills. It started with march past of students dressed in colourful clothes in the most disciplined manner. Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Deputy Director General (Tech) Syed Habib Shah was the chief guest and declared the sports day open, as torched was lit, while PSB Director M Azam Dar along with school principal Mehwash Ibrar and others was also present there. The best part of the ceremony was the kung fu, in which the students showed marvelous display of flexibility, stretch ability, pyramid and head stands under the supervision of instructor junior section Naeem. The parents felt delighted watching their children performing such difficult displays with such expertise. Races of several categories were also held. Chief guest lauded the efforts of the students and stressed the need of involving kids in more and more healthy sporting activities besides paying attention towards studies. Later, he awarded trophies, certificates and shields among the position holders.–Staff Reporter
