The Dubai parleys

I read in your paper about Dubai parleys (April 30, 2008). It was astonishing to note that Asif Ali Zardari opted to escape to Dubai at a very crucial time of our political history. It was time to stay in Islamabad and reach a decision on the judges issue. Zardari must have felt that 160 million people of Pakistan want the judges restored and want the door shown to Gen. Pervez Musharraf through the process of impeachment in the parliament. As he is under obligation to go the other way, he had to flee the scene. All those who cannot rise to the occasion have only one option i.e to disappear from the spot. I think chasing Zardari in Dubai will not be fruitful. He has a hidden agenda in tandem with his ally, General Pervez Musharraf. The fate of Dubai parleys is a dismal failure, nothing more. -BASHIR HUSSAIN AZAD, Chitral, via e-mail, April 30.
