IHC decides 713 cases, institutes 1,006 new ones

ISLAMABAD (APP)- Islamabad High Court has decided a total of 713 cases during the month of April. A total of 713 cases were disposed of while 1,006 new ones were instituted for hearing. Among the decided ones, 3 belonged to murder, 27 award of imprisonment, 78 bail matters, election matters and others to tax reference, writ petitions, death sentences and civil matters, Secretary to CJ Ejaz Ahmed told APP. Among them the prominent decided cases were: bail granted to former Khateeb of Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz, bail matter of former minister for state Shahid Jamil Qureshi, writ petition of Maulvi Iqbal Haider against proposed constitution package for the restoration of judges, regularization order of contract employees of various federal departments, police officers' promotion case, hearing of about forty polls writ petitions, allowing expelled federal government employees to seek remedy from Federal Service Tribunal and barring National Accountability Bureau from investigating cases of low grade officers. Five Single Benches and Two Division Benches of IHC have been regularly hearing these cases.        Five single benches include Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam, Justice Mohammad Munir Paracha, Justice Dr Sajid Qureshi, Justice Syed Qalb e Hassan and Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan. The first Division bench (DB) comprise Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam and Justice Dr Sajid Qureshi while the second DB, comprise Justice Munir Paracha and Justice Syed Qalbe Hassan.
