LAHORE - The Punjab Judo Association headed by Asif Iqbal Khan with secretary Shahid Javed Malik organised a function in which they handed over judo equipment worth lacs of rupees to different district associations and clubs in the Punjab. Judo mats and uniforms were distributed free of cost to the districts of Rawalpindi and Khanewal and to the clubs of Lahore Grammar School, Samanabad Girls High School and Gulshan-e-Ravi Clubs. The ceremony was presided over by Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Deputy Speaker Punjab who is also the Patron-in-Chief of the Punjab Judo Association. Shahid explained the programme of the association for the development of the game in Punjab. He stated that the association had chalked out a multi-phased programme according to which it will be providing mats and uniforms to the deserving clubs and in the province. It will also provide trained coaches to these clubs to impart training to the players, he added. Asif Iqbal requested the Punjab Sports Board to help the association in its efforts to promote judo in this province. Rana Mashhood, commending the efforts of the association and assured the government support. He appreciated the work being done by the Punjab Judo Association and hoped that they will continue with it with greater zeal.
