Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer congratulated the citizens on celebration of rescuers and Firefighters Day. Rescue and fire fighting is noble profession and the rescuers are known as heroes of the society, but unfortunately due to lack of skills and modern training in the past services were restricted to only sprinkling waters on fire standing far away from the fire. The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) established from historic city of Lahore under the Punjab Emergency Service Act 2006 was unanimously passed by the Punjab Assembly for professional management of emergencies. The rescuers have been trained on international standards with latest equipments and vehicles. It is our proud privilege that challenges of first Modern Fire Service and Disaster Emergency Response teams in Pakistan were given to the service on the basis of the success of Emergency Medical Service, which were also successfully accomplished. Rescue 1122 has rescued over 1,20,000 victims of different emergencies, which includes more than 4160 fire incidents. He paid tribute to all rescuers and Firefighters, who harnessed their lives in the line of their duties and promise to provide sense of safety with the comprehensive, professional and effective management. He said "An eye which wakes to serve humanity for a single night is equal to the prayers of thousands nights" so that we should practice on this quote that there is an excuse in prayers but, not in services.
