ISLAMABAD - Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued fine tickets amounting Rs 198 ,000 to 366 motorcyclists for their involvement in one-wheeling besides impounding 78 motorcycles in police stations. It was told to the Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Muhammad Zubair Hashmi on Sunday in the weekly report submitted to him by the Special Squads constituted for action against speed-merchants. The SSP was told that three motorcyclists were also arrested for over-speeding and presented them into the courts where they were fined. These squads remained present on 7th Avenue, and 9th Avenue, Murree Road, Kashmir Highway and other areas of the city and took action against those who played stunt on roads. The policemen of these squads ensured special vigilance on Friday, Saturday and Sunday when such activities were commonly on the peak. The SSP said strict action would be taken against one-wheelers and car racers. He appealed to the parents to keep strict vigilance of their children and did not allow them to play stunt on the road. Muhammad Zubair Hashmi directed police to continue this campaign against the violators because they not only put their own lives on risk but also of others. "Such steps by the ITP have the only purpose to ensure safe road environment for the citizens of Islamabad," he said but termed the cooperation of the parents vital to stop such life-threatening stunts.
