In a triumphant victors speech US President Obama announced the death of Americas enemy Number One, Osama Bin Laden. It has long been argued by Western thinkers and strategists, especially the policymakers in the West that the West is not at War with the Muslim world, that it does not believe in the clash of civilizations, that the Muslim World generally does not have any reservations with the imperial foreign policy pursued by Western nations. This was the point which Obama re-emphasized in his speech announcing the death of Osama bin Laden We must also reaffirm that the United States is not - and never will be - at war with Islam. I've made clear, just as President Bush did shortly after 9/11, that our war is not against Islam. Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader; he was a mass murderer of Muslims. Indeed, Al-Qaeda has slaughtered scores of Muslims in many countries, including our own. So his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity. Whatever the American narrative be, it is certain that the Muslim world does not believe in it. It is all but obvious that Osama bin Ladens Al Qaeda , Mullah Omers Taliban, Tahir Yuldashevs Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, Ahmad Yasins Hamas, Abu Sayyafs Harkat-ul-Islamiyah, to name a few, are reactionary movements to the imperial foreign policy pursued by Western nations in the Muslim world. Obama may try to cast these movements as common enemies of the humanity but the fact remains that for the Muslim world these movements are resistance movements fighting the imperial Western forces and their allies. If indeed it is the slaughter of Muslims, which worries Obama, then how does he justify the death of over one million Muslims in Iraq after the US imposed a brutal and destructive War in the heart of the Middle East? How does he account for the death of tens of thousands of innocent civilians in Afghanistan at the hands of US forces? These were the facts, which were confirmed by the whistleblower website Wikileaks. The Muslim World does not view her relationship with the West through the prism of 9/11. It does not think that the wars in Afghanistan or Iraq are legitimate and that the US has a license to bomb and destroy Muslim cities because it was attacked on 9/11 irrespective of who did it. The Muslim World sees her relationship with the West with regards to the Western foreign policy, pursued by Western nations towards her. And here there is ample evidence to suggest that the US and the West are at war with Islam and the Muslims. Wests unjust support for the Israeli occupation of Palestine and its support for occupiers of Kashmir and Chechniya are shameful. Its backing of brutal dictators and plaint rulers in the Muslim World, waging Wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen and now Libya, the denial of nuclear technology to Iran, imposing economic misery on the Muslim world through IMF and World Bank, the desecration and burning of the Quran, the publishing of Prophet Muhammads cartoons, and the banning of hijab and niqab in Western countries are all facts that proves its hatred for the Muslims.
