ISLAMABAD - Assistant Commissioner (Industrial Area), Imran Ali Sultan, in exercise of powers conferred on him under Section 144 CrPC, 1898, has prohibited the holding of unauthorised car bazaars at G-9 Markaz and Industrial Area Sub-Division for a period of two months with immediate effect.

In this regard, the order issued by the Assistant Commissioner (Industrial Area) says that it has been made to appear to him that certain persons are indulging in holding of unauthorized car bazaars at G-9 Markaz which is a security hazard and disturbs public peace and tranquillity at the above mentioned sectors. “There are sufficient grounds for proceeding under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code, 1898 and immediate prevention and speedy remedy is justified and the directions to this effect are necessary,” further says the order.  Meanwhile, Secretary, ITA, Khawja Maqbool Mustafa conducted surprise traffic checking and imposed fines worth Rs 34,300 on the public service vehicles.

He also challaned 74 public service vehicles for various traffic violations including commercial vehicles indulging in over loading. He directed the transporters to charge the fixed fares from the commuters and complete their designated routes failing which their route permits would be cancelled. He said that traffic checking drive had been launched to ensure completion of routes, curb the over charging by the transporters and to redress complaints of commuters on the spot.
