HAFIZABAD/VEHARI/NANKANA SAHIB: The International Firefighters’ Day was observed in Hafizabad and Vehari on Friday.

A Rally was taken out under the auspices of Rescue 1122, Hafizabad. District Emergency Officer, Sibghatullah led the rally. The rally started from the office of the Rescue 1122 and concluded after passing through various roads including General Bus Stand, Fawara Chowk, Katchery Road and Al-Faisal Bazaar.

The participants were carrying placards and banners. Addressing the rally, District Emergency Officer, Sibghatulah, Rescue and Safety Officer, Shoukat Ali paid rich tribute to the rescuers who were martyred during fighting in Ghakhar Plaza Rawalpindi and offer Fateha for the departures souls. They said that this day was observed to create awareness among the people to play their positive role in fire fighting and other emergencies.

In Vehari, the International Firefighters Day was also observed like across the world and Pakistan. In this regard, functions and other programmes were held to appreciate the firefighters.

But in Paksitan, majority of the officers concerned did not know even about the exact date of this day. There are only three vehicles in fire office, two vehicles are 1984 bed ford and Mazda old models while one is 2004 model having a 1200 gallon water capacity for 1 million population of vehari.

2004 model vehicle is not in working condition because before one month it was out of order due to an accident. There are only 11 firemen on station and they are not enough for proper working.

The liabilities of fire brigade department is more than that of rescue team because rescue team is allowed for operations in 15 kilometers radius while fire brigade have to cover complete district.

In Nankana Sahib, the day was marked by taking out a flag march by Rescue 1122 Nankana.

The flag march started and passed through different roads of the city. Later on, a mock fire fight was carried out by staff which was appreciated by the participants. Dr M Azam said that we should adopt fire safety measures to avoid dangers and it should be our prime obligation to save the society from such mishaps.

People and traders must install all necessary safety instruments and apparatus at their houses & business points to ensure the safety of their lives and property for the betterment of the country being the patriotic and responsible citizens of Pakistan. Further, he also argued society to come forward and cooopertae with rescue 1122 to serve the masses and to make this society more safe, comfortable and secure.

The People were urged to come forward and provide awareness among masses to get cooperation, services and assistance to make our society more safe and responsible.

The Rescue 1122 fighters have saved valuable lives of masses irrespective of their status and religion. Its service to the humanity and all staff working would also be awarded on the day of judgment by Almighty God.

Rescue 1122 in-charge Dr Muhammad Azam and rescue and safety manager Shahid said that rescue 1122 have rescued hundreds of human lives by their timely professional services and efforts during 147 incidents/ fire mishaps.

They also claimed that they saved property worth Rs. 30 million in the far flung areas and is ready to serve and save the masses in the future as well.

In Sialkot, the Rescue-1122 personnel took out a rally in City to mark the 'International Fire Fighters Day' here on Friday.

Rally began from Kutchery Road and culminated at Allama Iqbal Chowk after passing through all the main inter-city roads. The participants were carrying banners and placards with the renewed pledge to make all sincere efforts to save the lives of the people.
