LAHORE - Pakistan junior hockey team started their title campaign on a confident note in the 7th Junior Men’s Asia Cup Hockey Tournament when they defeated China 1-0 in Malacca, Malaysia, a Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) spokesman said this on Friday.

Both the teams played well in the first half which remained goalless but in the second half, Pakistan’s M Suleman made a superb move to scored the only goal in the 32nd minute and steered Pakistan to 1-0 victory over China.

In the inaugural match of the 2012 Asia Cup Junior Hockey Tournament, Korea thrashed Japan 4-1 to ring alarm bells for the opponents.

Pakistan have been placed in the Group B in company of arch-rivals India, China, and Sri Lanka while Korea, Malaysia, Japan and Iran are the part of pool A.

Pakistan will take on the arch-rivals India on May 6 at 03:05 which can take the tournament to a new level.
