KARACHI- Political and religious parties on Thursday demanded the government to stop the operations in Lyari and resolve the issues through negotiations.They announced to hold protest demonstration against the Lyari operation on May 7 across Sindh province including Lyari and termed that the Lyari operation will be disastrous for the peace of Karachi. This was stated by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sindh Chief Asadullah Bhutto, Aslam Rajput of PTI, Siddique Rathor of JUP, Zia Abbas of NPP, Matloob Awan of PST, Ali Osat of PAT, Mohammad Hussain of JI, Aslam Ghori of JUI-F and others in the Multi-Parties Conference (MPC) organized by JI Karachi against Lyari operation at JI Karachi office.JI Sindh Chief Asadullah Bhutto in his address said that the problems of people of Lyari have increased because of the operation saying that the non objective operation in Lyari was held for political benefit of a few. He said that the government that said democracy was the best but the government could not resolve the issue of Lyari without killings.He said that Pakistan cannot afford an army operation in any parts of the country saying that negotiations and development are the solution to Lyari problems.He termed that the operation in Lyari was a part of the ongoing conspiracy to give Karachi port to Americans saying that the Pakistani people would not tolerate the conspiracy of American control of Karachi port.Meanwhile, the Sindh government has decided that all the examination boards of the province will pay Rs 200 per day per constable as an additional food allowance. It was also decided that anyone appearing who is found to be impersonating, will be dealt harshly and an FIR will be registered as criminal case against them, besides arresting them, he/she will be disqualified for 3-years These decisions were taken at a meeting held under the Chairmanship of principal secretary to Chief Minister Sindh, Agha Jan Akhter at C.M House on Friday. The meeting discussed steps in connection with smooth conducting of Annual Examination of H.S.C (Intermediate) and suggested measures for holding annual examination in a befitting manner in Sukkur and Larkana Divisions.According to official statement issued from the CM House, the meeting said that the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of the province will arrange joint briefing of invigilators, staff and media/pressmen about measures being adopted for annual examinations; while the Commissioners of all divisions will monitor the whole process. It was also decided that the Commissioner Karachi and all DIGs of Karachi will hold meeting tomorrow to finalize the arrangements of examinations in Karachi Division.Admission Tests on 6th: The admission test for Post Graduate Admission 2012 will be conducted on May 6, 2012 at 10:00 am. Candidates are directed to reach their respective departments/centres/institutes at 9:00 am along with their original NIC and Admit Card. Admit cards can be collected till May5, 2012 from the respective departments. Test of Chemical Engineering, National Nematological Research Centre and Marine Science will be conducted in the office of the Dean Faculty of Science. It is pertinent to note that the test for admission in the faculty of law will be conducted on May 13, 2012. According to Convener, Post Graduate Admission Committee, Prof. Dr. Shahana Urooj Kazmi, more than 3000 applications were received for admissions on 1043 seats in M.Phil/PhD/MS (Surgery)/MD (Medicine). It has also been announced that the Post Graduate Admission Committee has approved admissions in the PhD program in the faculty of Education. Interested candidates can submit the application forms in their respective departments till May10.
