LAHORE – Religious parties on Friday staged demonstrations and rallies to protest the desecration of Holy Quran by US Christian priest Terry Jones for the second time, holding US government responsible for allowing such an outrageous act which strongly offended the religious feelings of entire Muslim world.

In the provincial capital, various protests demonstrations were held on the call of Tehrik Hurmat Rasool (THR), Jamaat-ud-Dawa and other organisations where protestors raised slogans against the US and called for jihad to protect Islam against Christian blasphemers. They also set ablaze US flags and effigies of Obama.

The central rally in provincial metropolis was held at Chauburji Chowk, which was addressed by Jamiat Ahle Hadith President Ibtesam Elahi Zaheer, Qari Yakoob Sheikh, JI central leader Dr Farid Paracha, Tahir Ashrafi, Naeem Badshah, Hasnain Siddiqi, Maulana Asim Makhdoom and others.

They demanded permanent closure of Nato supply line and severing of ties with the US by expelling US ambassador. They condemned Islamabad for apologetically willing to befriend Washington despite its Islam enmity and warned that such attitude was the reason that invited Almighty’s wrath in shape of calamities and turmoil all over the country. They termed the organised blasphemies by Christian priest Terry Jones as fully patronised by Washington which was evident from its lukewarm response to such outrageous attempts. Dawa Ameer Hafiz Saeed, while delivering Friday sermon at Jamia Qadisia, said all Muslim rulers must wake up.
