Robbers make off with Rs0.69m from bank vaults

KARACHI - At least six criminal within four minutes were able to rob approximately Rs 0.69 million rupees from a private bank's branch in Kashmir Road within the limits of Ferozabad police station and fled with cell-phones of the staff. However, police detained the guard of the bank on suspicion.SHO Ferozabad Police station Ejaz Khwaja said that six armed men entered the bank at Kashmir Road Jamshed Town at around 3:24 am and after holding the entire staff  hostage they looted around Rs.0.69 million from the bank in just four minutes.In addition to that, they also snatched four mobile phones from the staff and customers and fled in a car. An officer of the bank said the armed men came in   car and on motorcycle.  The criminals ordered the bank staff to lie down on the floor and snatched all available cash.Following the incident, the bank staff immediately informed the police and they rushed to the spot. Officer said at the time of incident two security guards were deployed on duty but they did not offer any resistance, adding that police had taken them into custody for interrogation. He said police record the statement of bank manager Shahid Raza and registered FIR No 255/12 against unidentified men and initiated to probe the case.
