MULTAN–The activists of Tehrik Hurmat-e-Rasool marked Friday as protest day in South Punjab region against desecration of Holy Quran by American pastor Terry Johns.

All the member parties of the THR including Jamatud Dawa, Jamaat-e-Islami, JUI-F, JUP, Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith, Tanzeem-e-Islami, JUI-S and Majlis-e-Ehrar fully participated in the demonstrations and strongly condemned the satanic act of the American pastor.

Holding placards and banners inscribed with anti US slogans, the protesters gathered outside mosques in Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Vehari, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Jampur, Lodhran and others areas of South Punjab and carried out non-stop sloganeering against the American pastor.

Addressing the protesters, the THR leaders said that the pastor was being patronized by American government and the desecration of the holy book was being committed under American patronage.

They regretted that on one hand the Americans were committing desecration of Holy Quran while on the other hand our rulers were going to restore Nato supply. They warned that the Muslims could not tolerate the desecration of holy personalities and the book and a strong country-wide protest drive would be launched against the USA and NATO.

They asked the government to take up the issue with American government on diplomatic level and seek extradition of Terry Johns so that he could be hanged in Pakistan. They further asked the UNO to take notice of this situation and stop those who were involved in hurting the sentiments of Muslims.
