SIALKOT – The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed great concern over the proposed increase in power tariff under the fuel adjustment surcharge.

SCCI President Naeem Anwar Qureshi said that it would be a deathblow for the masses and the business. He said that continuous increase in electricity tariff was earning bad name for the government besides having devastating effect on the people and the economy.

As an example, he referred to cases of house rent where some of the tenants have vacated the building after paying all liabilities. Entire financial burden now rests on the owners to pay the past outstanding dues. He wondered who has devised such policy to rob the people.

The SCCI president narrated that there is immense unrest among the people being on the verge of exploding in the shape of protests, which could be violent creating all sorts of law problems. Such situation can only be a nightmare for the govt, thus must be avoided at all costs by reversing wrong doing. He demanded that the govt should forthwith withdraw the announcement to increase tariff on account of fuel adjustment surcharge to provide relief to the people in this difficult time when the country is faced with multiple problems so the status quo of prices is the minimum relief.
