SWAT - Professor Ibrahim , prominent member of Taliban mediation committee, has warned that both Army and Taliban have restarted attacks, which may disturb the peace process .
He further said that neither military operations brought peace , nor Taliban’s attacks enforced Shariah in the country so this war should end now. He was talking to media persons here at Jamaat-e-Islami Alkhidmat Markaz on Sunday.
Prof Ibrahim said that efforts are under way to conduct meeting between Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and government committees, adding TTP’s Shura is being contacted for taking forward the negotiations. He added time and venue are expected to be decided soon.
He said that his last meeting with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan was held on 23rd April and it was decided that a meeting of both committees should be arranged for meaningful negotiations but unfortunately the dialogue process was postponed for some period due to some reasons.
Ibrahim said that army operations and Taliban attacks had claimed thousands of lives from both sides, while the war also affected thousands of innocent people badly, therefore this should end now. He added that the war was started by army in Pervez Musharraf’s regime and now the army should play a key role to finish it.
INP adds: A member of Taliban negotiating committee, Maulana Yousuf Shah, said on Sunday that there had been no contact between the Taliban and the government committees.
Talking to media here, he said that one of the members of the government committee had gone with the PM on UK visit.
“Talks are expected to be resumed in next two-three days”, he added.
