Karachi - Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has demanded  of the provincial government to announce the date of holding Local Bodies elections in Sindh province before November 2014 keeping the date-line of Supreme Court in its mind.
He expressed these views while addressing a concluding ceremony of 15-day party visit of District East.
During the campaign, JI Karachi General Secretary Abdul Wahab, Naib Ameers Muzaffar Hashmi, Nasrullah Khan Shajih, Muslim Pervez, Deputy Secretary Rashid Qureshi, Ameer District East Younus Barai and General Secretary District East Naeem Akhtar also accompanied the JI Karachi Chief. Speaking on the occasion, Hafiz Naeem said that the Karachi was an economic hub of the country and development of the City was imperative for the country’s prosperity.
He further said that the MQM has become the part of the coalition government in Sindh province and it should refrain itself from the politics of violence.
He urged the MQM leadership to express its confidence on Sindh Governor and the provincial government.
Highlighting the civic issues, Hafiz Naeem said that the people were facing tremendous hardships due to absence of effective Local Bodies system, adding, that the cleanliness, water and sewerage issues have forced the masses into mental agony. On the occasion, Naeem Akhtar briefed the JI Karachi Chief about the membership campaign in District East and said that thousands of people have joined Jamaat-i-Islami in the district.
Hafiz Naeem directed the office-bearers of the district to initiate the preparations of LB elections and utilise all their available resources for holding members convention.
UNITY OF THE MUSLIMS NEED OF THE HOUR, SAYS LIAQUAT
Staff Reporter from Lahore: Jamaat e Islami General Secretary Liaquat Baloch has said that the lawlessness and unrest in the country would end only if the rulers implemented the laws of the land themselves.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of the Dr Rafiullah Hashmi’s book on Ch. Muhammad Sadiq, popularly known as Lala e Sahrai, at Mansoora.
Liaqat Baloch said that Pakistan came into being on the two nation theory, and as long as the country was not built on these foundations, it could not achieve real independence and sovereignty. He commended the services of late Ch. Muhammad Sadiq for the enforcement of the Shariah in the country.
He said that complete unity of the Muslim world was the need of the hour.
He said that the leaders and workers of the Islamic movements were being victimised all over the world. He urged the Muslim thinkers and writers not to be cowed down by the Western propaganda and produce constructive literature that could motivate the Muslims to follow the golden Islamic teachings.
