Sethi endorses Inzamam over selection controversy

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi has endorsed chief selector Inzamamul Haq over the selection debacle caused over the non-selection of Fawad Alam and Wahab Riaz for the Test series against Ireland and England.

Chief selector, Inzamamul Haq, was severely criticized by many after excluding the duo, especially Fawad, who once again failed to make the squad.

While talking to media in Islamabad, Najam Sethi said that he does not have any role in the selection process and policy; however, he supported Inzamam regarding him an expert in the field.

He remarked, “I don’ interfere in the selection process. Inzamam is a specialist in his field and I don’t believe there is any need for me to interfere.”

The chairman also reacted viciously at the critics, saying, “People on the outside were once selectors themselves so it’s ok for them to criticize. If they won’t do it, the who will listen to them?”

“We are number one in T20Is, we were number one in Tests not that long ago and we had a fantastic last year in ODIs, so I am satisfied with the team’s overall performance,” he said while recounting all of the team’s recent achievements.

He further told media, “We are planning to increase the number of teams from eight to 10. Our plan is to invest on players and not keep the PCB’s money in the banks. We are planning for the long term, where our focus is to invest on new players.”
