ISLAMABAD - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa arrived in Saudi capital Riyadh on 4-day official visit to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
During his stay, the Pak Army Chief will meet Saudi leadership to discuss with them regional security situation and defense and security cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
A brief statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate on Tuesday says Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa reached Saudi Arabia on official visit. COAS will meet Saudi Arabia’s civil military leadership during the visit, the ISPR said.
Upon arrival Pakistan’s Ambassador to KSA Lt Gen (retired) Bilal Akbar and senior Saudi officials received the Army Chief. General Qamar Javed Bajwa is visiting the kingdom ahead of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit, beginning from 7th of May.
It’s expected that Army Chief would join Prime Minister Imran khan’s meetings with the Saudi leaders but it has not been confirmed yet by the senior officials here. Both countries have been jointly conducting military exercises and have close corporation in counterterrorism as well. Army chief during his stay in kingdom would also visit Makkah where he would perform Umrah and he will also offer Nawafil at Masjid Nabwi in Madinah.
