3 troops killed in Hangu suicide blast

HANGU - At least three security forces personnel have been killed and 10 others seriously injured when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive laden car into a check-post in Doaba area of Hangu district, official sources said Tuesday. Later, the sources said, all the injured were rushed to the Combined Military Hospital, Hangu, where two of them, namely Amjad and Sajid, were reported in critical condition. One of the killed persons has been identified as Haq Nawaz, while the identity of others has not yet been ascertained. However, the injured have been identified as Nasir Barki, Yousaf, Tariq, Naveed, Inayat, Khalid Shehzad, Noor Mohammad, Imdad Hussain and Amir Ali. Soon after the blast, officials of the law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and started began collecting evidences of the blast from the scene. Later District Police Officer told TheNation that the head of the suicide bomber had been found from the spot. Meanwhile, Amir of JUI-F, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and its provincial Amir Senator Gul Naseeb Khan while condemning the attack have demanded of the government to halt the ongoing military operation in the area and review its foreign policy. District Nazim Hangu Haji Khan Afzal also condemned the attack and said that terrorists could not achieve their goals through such inhuman acts. Meanwhile, two police personnel lost their lives when unknown miscreants hurled hand grenade on the patrolling vehicle of Kharkai police post here on Tuesday. As per details, ASI Mohammad Sher Khan and Constable Arif Shah lost their lives as a result of a hand grenade attack on their patrolling vehicle at Kharkai police post by unknown miscreants, which was afterwards followed by firing by the attackers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Lundkhwar. The incident took place in Aliaysee Kandawo area in the jurisdiction of Kharkai police post where apart from the death of the two police personnel, Constables Sadiq Khan and Rajid Ali received severe injuries, who were brought to Dargai hospital for treatment. Agencies add: Suspected militants abducted 12 schoolchildren in Swat Valley on Tuesday, police quoted residents as saying. They said the children were playing outside their school during a break. A militant spokesman in the region denied involvement in the kidnapping.
