Dengue on rampage

An outburst of mosquito-borne dengue fever has been reported in many parts of Pakistan. A total of 4,561 dengue cases have been reported, which are estimated to further increase in November to December. Dengue, like malaria and other vector-borne diseases, is circulated by the reproduction of mosquitoes in fresh water. Before it spreads further making it is the responsibility of the municipal governments to launch eradication campaigns via fumigation, water drainage, etc. as well as conduct health awareness campaigns. This is the time for our government to step up its efforts to save lives of the people. ASMA HANIF, Karachi, October 31.
