Our Staff Reporter ISLAMABAD - It is indeed a matter of great pleasure to welcome all of you as newly elected and outgoing cabinets, said Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while addressing outgoing members of Supreme Court Bar Association headed by Asma Jahangir and newly elected body of SCBA headed by President Yaseen Azad, who called on the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court building here on Friday. The Chief Justice further said, We are one with the same commitment, dedication and devotion that we would be working for the cause of Supremacy of Constitution, rule of law and improvements in the administration of justice in the country. Our cause is to administer justice and there should be no rule except the Constitutionalism. Lauding role of Asma Jahangir, the CJP said that the SCBA during its last one-year performed very well. All the members of her cabinet devotedly and wholeheartedly played their role. The Chief Justice added Asma never failed to put forward case of lawyers community in an articulate manner, but at the same time expressed her viewpoint on the judgments and decisions of the Supreme Court, explaining the same in her own style. Felicitating the newly elected SCBA President Yaseen Azad his lordship said, The relationship with Asmawas so cordial that we never thought that the Bench and the Bar are separate. Now you would have to make more efforts for the cause of legal fraternity as you are replacing a dynamic personality who worked well for the institution. We should move together instead of being distracted by minor issues. If there is unity, the resolution of matters can be achieved easily. The Bench and the Bar are united for the cause of the independence of judiciary. Asma Jahangir on the occasion said that his lordships constructive contribution and role is appreciated. We always strived to keep the flag of independent judiciary flying higher and higher. Yaseen Azad said he and his Cabinet would extend full cooperation to strengthen the institution. The nexus between the Bench and Bar is important in achieving the independence of judiciary and to achieve the goal of providing justice to people at their doorsteps.
