FAISALABAD - Divisional Commissioner Tahir Husain presided over a meeting held here to review security arrangements on the eve of Eidul Azha in the light of check list received from the Punjab government. The meeting was also attended by RPO Aftab Cheema and other officers of the department concerned. The commissioner and RPO directed the DCOs and DPOs of all the districts to ensure meetings of District Intelligence Coordination Committee, peace committees and public participation committees at police station level to consider the measures for maintenance of peace and sectarian harmony. The officials were also directed to maintain foolproof security arrangements at Eidgahs, mosques and all other places where Eid congregations would be held. The officers of the law enforcement agencies were directed for effective deployment of force at rooftops near important mosques and congregation places and pickets besides snap-checking. The officials were also directed for the availability of Bomb Disposal Squads, walk-through-gates, metal detectors and emergency services at sensitive places. The commissioner asked the police high-ups to ensure special security measures for VVIPs, VIPs, prominent leaders and religious scholars, general public and other important places. He also directed that a viable traffic management should be prepared in the markets and important shopping centres.
