Trust and cooperation

There is a huge deficit of trust between the police and community. The citizens consider police to be corrupt and inefficient, while the police deem the populace as uncooperative and overly critical. A common man despises and avoids contacting the police or visiting the police station, as they believe that their situation will only worsen. People resolve their differences and feuds, preferring not to involve the legal system or the police. This has further resulted in worsening the law and order situation rather than improving it. It is imperative that for the prevalence of law and order, the gap between the two will have to be eliminated. YASIR HAMEED, Islamabad, November 1.
