ISLAMABAD: Corruption worth of 1.5 billion dollars has been surfaced in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas as the incumbent government increased the cost of Karachi-Lahore Gas Pipeline project to further burden the nation.

Sources told Online the ministry had estimated one billion dollars as the cost of project in its feasibility report.

Karachi-Lahore gas Pipeline is a project signed between Islamabad and Moscow. As per the project, Russia has to build a pipeline of almost 1100 kilometers from Karachi to Lahore.

The incumbent government of PML-N has awarded the project to Russia under BOT contract which will be completed with cost of 2.5 billion dollars.

On question of Online, Minister of Petroleum Shahid Khakan Abbasi in reply to a mobile message said, “I do not respond to unimportant and illogical questions”.
