Local traders observed complete shutdown in the rural and urban areas of Layyah district against the poor performance of police over the rising robbery incidents.

The traders protested and blocked Choubara Road, Lahore Road, DG Khan Multan Road sent the traffic completely out of gear. The traders gathered at Fawara Chowk and chanted slogans against the police.

Addressing the protesters, Traders Association President Wahid Bux Barvi said that police had failed to protect traders, and added that the protest would continue till the maintenance of peace. He said the police were responsible for all the robbery incidents in Layyah. The protesters demanded transfer of SHO city Police Station and District Police Officer (DPO) Ghazi Salahuddin. They warned that if their demands were not met, protests will be expanded.
