LAHORE  - Punjab University Centre for Applied Molecular Biology’s Director Prof Dr Muhammad Idrees Khan has said that Punjab government has taken remarkable steps to eradicate dengue fever from the province and these efforts must be extended to federal level.

He was addressing a seminar regarding dengue awareness at Al Raazi Hall here on Wednesday. On this occasion Registrar Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Focal Person Dengue Research Group Prof Dr Muhammad Saeed Akhtar and faculty members were present.

Giving a detailed presentation, Dr Idrees Khan said that after the prediction of PU’s Dengue Research Group, Punjab government took appropriate preventive measures in Rawalpindi otherwise the disease was likely to affect around 40,000 persons in the district.

He said that thousands of people travel from one province to the other which could become a reason for spread of dengue fever as well so efforts must be made at federal level to control dengue fever throughout the country.
