A PTI MNA from Multan has been diagnosed with having dengue fever as the total number of dengue patients surpassed the mark of 340 here on Wednesday.
The family sources of MNA Malik Aamir Dogar confirmed that he suffered from fever. Meanwhile, addressing a seminar organised by DGPR Multan for creating awareness on dengue fever, EDO Health Iftikhar Hussain Qureshi said that unprecedented rains and delay in change of weather created a supportive environment for the dengue larva to grow.
He said that about 340 cases had so far been reported at Nishtar Hospital Multan but the citizens did not need to terrify. “Instead they should adopt precautionary measures to fight the disease. They need to keep their surroundings clean,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, focal person for dengue Dr Ataur Rehman said that dengue virus spreads when female mosquito bites the human. He added that severe headache, pain in bones and eyes and red spots on body are major signs of this fever. He suggested to the people to use only Panadol tablets in case they were diagnosed with dengue fever. He said that the mobile teams carried out door to door survey of all homes while the surveillance of go-downs, junkyards, plazas and tyre shops was also underway on daily basis.
Director of DGPR Multan Sajjad Jahania said in his speech that his department disseminated the message from government and Health Department to the public in effective manner. He added that the media campaign was meant to make the people join hands with the administration for defeating dengue mosquito.
Meanwhile, addressing another meeting, the Multan DCO said that the dengue outbreak was controlled by 90 percent with the cooperation of people. He said that the surveillance of every inch of the town would continue until the disease was eliminated from Multan. He said that the lab test of the dengue spray confirmed that the pesticide had long-lasting efficacy. He said that fumigation was being done in different areas of the city and TMOs of all towns supervised the campaigns.
A team raided a kiln and a pipe factory in Kala Khatai and Mandyali and detected dengue larva at both the places. Ferozewala and Factory area police registered a case against kiln owner Zulqarnain and factory manager Ashraf.
RELIEF GOODS: Four More relief goods trucks consisting blankets, edible articles and other essential items were dispatched to earth quake victims in KPK Province. A government official on this occasion urged the citizens and other well being people to come forward and donate generously for rehabilitation of the earth quake victims.
