SIALKOT-The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has established special teams to ensure early arrest of 53 officials of different government departments including 8 gazetted officers declared proclaimed offenders year ago in corruption cases in Gujranwala Division.

ACE Regional Director Fareed Ahmed said that 1,415 inquiries into corruption cases were underway while the special tasks have also been given to the investigation officers to dispose of 284 cases of corruption and funds embezzlement at the earliest in Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahaud Din, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts.

The ACE regional director added that it was displaying big-sized banners in and around the offices of all the government departments for promoting anti-corruption awareness to curb the menace of corruption in active cooperation with public.

He said that the officials of several government departments were adopting delaying tactics of remaining reluctant in providing corruption and funds' embezzlement record of the development schemes despite the hectic efforts made by the ACE. He said that now the ACE was writing Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif about these corrupt officials besides recommending to bring them to task.

He said that the ACE officials have successfully started implementing its policy of taking suo motu action for getting information related to corruption in the government departments to purge the government departments of corrupt officials.

He added that 30-11-2017 has been fixed as a deadline to dispose of all the pending inquiries into corruption submitted during the year 2015. He said that the special explanation would be sought against the investigation officers for delay in the disposal of pending inquiries after the deadline.

He said that the corrupt officials, wanted in corruption and embezzlement cases by ACE, were still working on the posts in different government departments by using their complete political influence. He said that the ACE has started sending the copies of the FIRs lodged against these corrupt officials by ACE to provincial the high-ups of the different departments for taking stern action against them.

Meanwhile, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a notorious human trafficker-cum-proclaimed offender (PO) Mamoonur Rasheed from village Begowala, Sambrial tehsil.

The accused was named in FIA's Red Book and was wanted by the FIA in several cases of human trafficking. FIA has sent the accused behind the bars and further investigations were underway.
