QUETTA - A landmine explosion injured two women in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district on Saturday.

As per reports, the militants had planted a landmine in Phelawagh, a sub-division of Dera Bugti which exploded when two women were passing by hurt them critically.

Soon after the blast, the security forces cordoned off the area and shifted the wounded women to hospital from where they were shifted to Multan for better healthcare services.

Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti have condemned the explosion by militants.

The chief minister denounced the targetting of defenceless women through subversive acts and reiterated that they would be brought to justice.



Foolproof security arrangements for the forthcoming Chehlum of Karbala martyrs were finalized in a moot by police high-ups on Saturday.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta Abdul Razzaq Cheema presided over the huddle which was attended by key police officials, Shia conference and organizers of mosques falling at the routes of Chehlum.

The moot was appraised of the schedule of main primary procession that would be taken out at 8 am from Quaidabad and Brawry areas on Nov 10 and would end ahead of evening.

The DIG police, in his keynote instructions, directed that security on all routes of the Chehlum processions should be beefed up and the procession would be monitored with closed circuit TV cameras.

Cheema said approximately 4000 police personnel – comprising Balochistan Constabulary (BC), Rapid Response Force (RRF), Elite Force, Anti-Terrorism Force (ATF) and traffic police – will be deployed for the security of mourning procession in Quetta, while Frontier Corps personnel will also discharge their duties.

He added that survey of shops, hotels and residential houses, falling in the route of procession, had been finalised and all these markets, shops and plazas will be sealed in the presence of Anjuman-e-Tajiran representatives.

As part of security measures, no employee could perform duty in the Chehlum procession sans security guard.
