There is no denying the fact that national economy and security are an integral part of each other. Strong security means strong economy and vice versa weak.Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has reiterated this fact and argued that Pakistan’s economy has seen a significant rival in the last four years. This is due to the improved security situation in the country. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will further put the economy on an upward trajectory of robust growth. According to the reports in the newspapers, the prime minister said this while addressing the opening session of 9th D-8 Summit in Istanbul.
The prime minister quite rightly sought trade and economic partnerships with D-8 countries including Azerbaijan, Nigeria ,Iran, Malaysia , Bangladesh, Egypt and Indonesia besides host Turkey and Pakistan through stronger rail, road and sea links as a win win for all and Pakistan’s integration with Eurasian Belt and Road network will provide a firm foundation for its rapid economic development. Appreciating the theme of the summit “ Expanding Opportunities through Cooperation” chosen by host Turkey is in complete harmony with the post-2-17 development agenda , he visualized sustainable development as one of the core elements of people-centered development.
Assuring Pakistan’s full support and cooperation in the collective efforts for aching tangible results, the prime minister emphatically told the leaders from member countries that they will always find a willing partner in Pakistan.
During the summit, the prime minister interacted with the top leaders and explored possibilities of mutually beneficial increased trade and economic relations with the Islamic bloc. Consolidated relations with Muslim countries will be beneficial for Pakistan.
