Minhaj chief denounces govt over constitutional amend

LAHORE - Tehrik Minhaj-ul-Quran President Dr Hussain Mohiuddin Qadri has said that amendment to affidavit of Khatame Nabuwwat and efforts to repeal the relevant clauses are an attack on religious sentiments of millions of Muslims of Pakistan by the current government.

Government circles admit that amendments to these clauses were planned so unless and until the elements involved in this conspiracy are not brought to justice, followers of the Prophet of Allah will remain restless, he said while addressing a gathering at Tehrik’s central secretariat in Modal Town on Saturday.

He demanded that the opposition condemn this act of the government and refuse to cooperate on any such legislation. He said the legislation to elect a disqualified person party president and do away with the affidavit of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat was humiliating and painful for millions of followers of Tehrik Minhajul Quran. He said opposition parties should not trust the ruling party, as its sole aim was to protect and save a corrupt family from the legal process at every cost. He said Tehrik Minhajul Quran was a global movement for resurgence of Islamic values and its organisational networks were active in over 100 countries. So far, over 500 books have been published on different topics under the banner of Tehrik and about 500 are under publication, he said, adding that Muslims as well as non-Muslims were taking due advantage of these books. He said members and workers of Tehrik were standard bearers of peace and they were presenting the same teachings of Islam to the world at large that were present by Holy Prophet (PBUH) for welfare of mankind. He said essence of Islamic teaching was veneration of mankind; Islam protects rights of weaker sections of society, censures hard hearted.
