LAHORE - The Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust (NPT) on Saturday organised a seminar in connection with 974th annual congregation (Urs) of Syed Ali Bin Usman Hajveri alias Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA).

The event was attended by luminaries of the Pakistan Movement, scholars, politicians, workers of the Pakistan Movement and students.

The speakers called the saint a leading figure of Islamic history who spread knowledge and wisdom and preached teachings of Islam. They said Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) spread Islam in the subcontinent and his teachings ultimately led to creation of Pakistan. They said the saint prepared the Muslims of the subcontinent for a revolution, which materialised in the form of Pakistan. “He spent his life preaching Islam and hundreds of thousands of people of the subcontinent converted to Islam due to his preaching,” they said.

Those who spoke on the occasion were NPT Vice Chairman Prof Dr Muhammad Rafique; Justice (Retd) Mian Mehboob Ahmed, former chief justice of Federal Shariat Court and chairman of the Pakistan Movement Workers Trust; Provincial Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri; Director General of the Department of Auqaf and Religious Affairs Dr Tahir Raza Bukhari; renowned columnist Dr Muhammad Ajmal Niazi; Sahibzada Waleed Ahmed Sharqpuri; Syed Ahmed Saqlain Haider Gilani; Mufti Muhammad Ramzan Sialwi and President of NPT Forum-Azad Kashmir Maulana Muhammad Shafi Josh. NPT Secretary General Shahid Rasheed moderated the seminar.

A book on the life and works of Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) by Dr Tahir Raza Bukhari titled “Zaad-ul-Abrar” was also launched on the occasion.
