Pakistan women register historic win over New Zealand

Pakistan made history on Sunday as they beat New Zealand for the first time in Women’s one-dayers at ICC Women’s Championship fixture at Sharjah.

They defeated the BlackCaps by five wickets in today’s game.

New Zealand, batting first after winning the toss, were bowled out after scoring 155 runs in 43.4 overs.

Sam Curtis made 50 runs from 77 balls with the help of five boundaries while Maddy Green contributed 26 runs with the blade.

Katey Martin and Anna Peterson scored 15 runs each for the BlackCaps.

Sana Mir took four wickets for the team while Sadia Yousuf dismissed one New Zealand player. Aiman Anwer, Nashra Sandhu and Bismah Maroof also grabbed a wicket each.

Pakistan reached the target of 156 runs in 48.5 overs

Skipper Bismah Maroof remained not out at 36 from 69 balls after hitting a boundary while Sidra Ameen made 32 from 75 balls after hitting five boundaries.

Javeria Khan and Nahida Khan scored 29 and 23 runs respectively for the team.

Anna Paterson took two wickets while Hanna Rowe and Amelia Kerr grabbed a wicket each.
