Three die, 31 hurt as smog onslaught continues

CHINIOT/SARGODHA/KASUR/TT SINGH-Three persons were killed and 31 others got injured in different accidents occurred due to thick smog in different areas here on Saturday.
According to police, at least 16 passengers were injured after a Chiniot-bound bus overturned on Lahore bypass. The bus was carrying devotees who were on their way back home from Bibi Pakdaman shrine early in the morning. Due to smog and foggy weather, the bus driver could not see the road near Lahore bypass. The vehicle, resultantly, rammed into fields on the roadside and overturned, leaving 16 passengers with critical injuries. Rescue 1122, Highways police and Saddr Police reached the spot and shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital. The injured included Nusrat; Nisar Ali; Sajid Ali; Saima; Sana Asif; Iqbal; Sohail; Ilyas; Shehbaz; Rubab; Farhat; and Maria Nasir. Those who sustained critical injuries included Roshni; Sania; Najma and Sumaira. They were rushed to Faisalabad Allied Hospital. Saddr police SHO Nadeem told that bus driver was also injured. He said the police have impounded the damaged vehicle and are investigating the incident from different aspects.
In Sargodha, 10 persons were wounded in an eight-vehicle pile-up on Motorway Midh Ranjha. It was a fog-triggered accident. The injured were shifted to hospital.
In Kasur, a man was killed while another was injured in two separately occurred motorbike collisions. Haider Ali was killed in collision between two motorbikes at Jhando Chowk, Pattoki. In Kot Radha Kishan Ali Hassan was on his way on a motorbike. Due to dense fog, he could not guess the distance and rammed into a tractor-trolley. He was inured resultantly and rushed to Kasur DHQ Hospital.
In Toba Tek Singh, two persons died and four other injured in two accidents occurred due to thick smog here on Saturday.
Deceased Sajjad Maseeh was on the way to his village Chak 424/JB on Gojra-Toba Road when his car collided head-on to a truck, coming from opposite direction. As a result he was seriously injured and succumbed to his injuries when he was being shifted to hospital.
In another incident, one person died and four others injured.
