ISLAMABAD - President Asif Zardari has called a joint session of the Parliament on October 8, officials said here on Saturday. According to the officials, in-camera briefing will be held in the joint session regarding war on terrorism and the security situation in tribal areas and NWFP. It is pertinent to mention here that various political parties had demanded that Parliament should be taken into confidence and members should be briefed about the real situation regarding the ongoing war on terror and military operation in the tribal areas and NWFP. Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, keeping in view the said demand, sent the summary to President Asif Zardari for holding a joint session of the Parliament. President Zaradri, acting upon the advice of the Prime Minister, has called the joint session on October 8, wherein heads of intelligence agencies and Director General Military Operations will hold an in-camera briefing for the members of the Parliament about overall security situation in the country and the ongoing military operations.
