LAHORE PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif on Monday urged the government to press the United States for early and safe release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui. Dr Aafias sister, Fowzia Siddiqui, called on Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence and discussed with him how a biased US judge had sentenced Aafia to 86 years imprisonment, throwing all principles of justice to wind. Former premier informed Fowzia about the efforts he had consistently been making to have Dr Aafia freed and brought back to Pakistan. He recalled that he had written a letter to the prime minister back in November 2008 that he should play his role for the release of Dr Aafia. As for his own role in this regard, he said he had been taking up the matter with the visiting US delegations. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and MNA Khwaja Muhammad Asif were also present at the meeting.
