ISLAMABAD PML-N staged walkout of the National Assembly proceedings against the secretively promulgation of an ordinance putting chairman NAB under law minister. Earlier, Opposition leader Ch Nisar Ali khan said that it was the law that no ordinance could be promulgated unless duly approved by the cabinet. I have checked it, this ordinance was not even sent to cabinet for approval, Nisar said. Expressing serious concerns regarding ordinance, he said that Prime Minister has been stating that he would always take opposition on board regarding NAB while on the other hand the government wants NAB to be an institution, which would be run by minister for law. Talking about the government action against the NATO, he said that opposition stands with the government for the sovereignty of the country. However, he came hard on the appointment of some officials especially of the PCB chief and said that every one including National Assembly and Senate Standing Committees on Sports has been recommending removal of Butt from his slot but the government is not ready to pay heed to their voice. He alleged the government was neglecting the Parliament. He also questioned the closure of a private TV channel in different cities of Pakistan. Later he walked out from the House with other MNAs from PML-N. However on the request of Khurshid Shah and Naveed Qamar, the opposition party came back. Meanwhile responding to opposition leader, Minister for Information and broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the Law Minister Babar Awan would brief the House regarding Ordinance. Regarding closure of a private television channel, he said it might be a fault on part of cable operators, not the government, adding if the government wanted to block these channels, it could have rendered them off-air. Meanwhile responding to a calling attention notice, Minister for water and power said that Chasma Right Bank Canal was breached during flood. However, a tender has been floated for its reconstruction after which it would be ready to supply water to ten thousand acre land. The calling attention notice was moved by Khawaja Sheraz and others.
