People across Azad Jammu & Kashmir will observe ‘Thanksgiving Day’ on Monday (today) to express gratitude to Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif for vehemently pleading with world leader for resolution of Kashmir issue.

The Kashmirs on either side of the Line of Control (LoC) have lauded prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for moving a 4-point Peace Formula to India to ensure early peaceful solution of Kashmir issue in the United Nations, it was officially announced.

Call for observing the ‘Thanksgiving Day’ has been given by the Prime Minister of AJK Ch Abdul Majeed to express gratitude to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, on behalf of the people of Jammu & Kashmir, an AJK government spokesperson told this Correspondent on Sunday.

Rallies, to be participated in by people of all sections of society, in all major cities of AJK including capital city of Muzaffarabad, Mirpur and Rawalakot will be the hall mark of the ‘Thanksgiving Day’, being observed to extend thanks and repose full confidence in the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Shareef for raising the importance of early settlement of Kashmir issue in line with the UNO resolutions.

At the same time AJK Prime Minister has highly appreciated the four-point peace proposal moved by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Talking to this Correspondent, the AJK Prime Minister said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif sincerely advocated the cause of peace and prosperity in South Asia through allowing the people of Jammu & Kashmir their right to self-determination as legitimate solution of the lingering Kashmir dispute.

Referring to the continued hostile attitude of India vis-à-vis the settlement of Kashmir issue during the last seven decades, Ch Majeed said that unless the UN Security Council seriously acknowledge the apparent danger to the peace of the South Asian region, there was least likely hood that India would honour its own commitments and promise to allow Kashmiris to exercise their right of self determination.

The AJK Prime Minister said that ongoing escalation tension on account of frequent violations of the Line of Control and Working Boundary through unprovoked firing by the India resulting in huge damage to the lives and properties of the people of Kashmir. “Such violations might result of emergence of a conventional war between India and Pakistan”, he feared.
