Islamabad - Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has sprung into action on the reports of illegal occupation and sale of state land by the land grabbers in the capital city, The Nation has learnt reliably.
Sources in the CDA said that FIA Corporate Crime Circle Islamabad has sought information from the authority on the reports of land occupied by the land grabbers near Rawal Dam, Islamabad.
Deputy Director General Land and Estate CDA, through a letter, a copy of which is available with The Nation, has directed all the concerned to provide information to FIA authorities as the latter has taken notice of the complaints of illegal sale of state land lodged by some locals.
In the light of the complaint filed by two locals; Azam Khan Tanoli and Syed Akbar Shah, FIA has asked CDA whether it is aware of the land grabbed by land grabbers near Rawal Dam or otherwise. “What action is taken by CDA against land grabbers? Whether the said area is acquired by CDA or otherwise? And specify in which zone of CDA the said area falls,” are the queries put by FIA to the CDA authorities before starting investigation into the matter, the letter reads. Director enforcement and three directorates of Land and Rehabilitation have been particularly asked to submit the requisitioned information.
Azam Khan Tanoli and Syed Akbar Shah in their application to the FIA stated that one Raja Mujahid Abbasi has illegally occupied vast CDA land near Lakhwal area of the capital. They said that illegal sale and purchase of CDA land was continuing and mountains were being leveled to occupy and sale out the state land. They alleged that Mujahid Abbasi, Jamil Abbasi and Zaheer Abbasi, all members of Qabza mafia were involved in illegal occupation of hundreds of kanals of CDA land and were further selling it out to different parties. “This all is not possible without active involvement of CDA officials,” they alleged. They asked FIA to start a Karachi-like operation through Rangers so that state land could be retrieved.
