Islamabad - Golra police are yet to trace the culprits who had attacked the car of a doctor when the latter was moving in Sector G-13 along with his family on October 1.

According to the details, Dr Ahmad Ali Soomro, who is working with the Federal Government Hospital in Islamabad had reported to Golra police that two unknown bike riders on October 1 chased his car in Sector G-13 and opened fire at him.

However, he escaped the bullets. The police registered a case against the unknown persons under section 324/34 of the PPC but there is no progress in the investigation despite passage of four days. When contacted, Investigation Officer Muhammad Zameer told The Nation that the police was trying to trace the culprits. “The complainant has no idea about the attackers. He (complainant) had told us that he would inquire into the matter personally and then get back to us and we are waiting for his feedback on the issue,” he added.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested three car-snatchers and seven other outlaws during high vigilance in the city and recovered vehicles, hashish, mobiles, weapons as well as stolen valuables from their possession, a police spokesman said yesterday.

According to details, SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas constituted a special team following directions from senior police officials to nab those involved in car snatching and lifting. This team of anti-car lifting cell (ACLC) headed by Inspector Abdul Sattar Shah worked hard and succeeded to arrest two car-lifters Ashfaq Ahmed and Mirza Shahid and recovered snatched vehicle (VC-161) from them while their third accomplice Shah Wali, a resident of Afghanistan has also been arrested in possession of weapon and ammunition. They confessed to have snatched vehicles at gunpoint and later used to sell them in various areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Further investigation is underway from them and police is hopeful of more recovery from them.

Meanwhile, Koral police recovered one 30-bore pistol along with ammunition from an accused Qamer. Industrial Area police recovered stolen valuables from a car (IDH-5688) while Sihala police arrested a drug pusher namely Yunus and recovered 1.7 kilogram hashish from him. Police also arrested four persons, Sani Iqbal, Waqas, Ibrar and Khalid Mehmood for their alleged involvement in illegal sale of petroleum products and decanting gas in cylinders. Sabzi Mandi police arrested Pervez and recovered mobile phone from him. Cases have been registered against these accused and further investigation is underway.
