ISLAMABAD: The second round of talks between PIA’s management and Pakistan Airline Pilots Association (PALPA) failed today after the government rejected all three demands of the pilots’ body.
Sher Ali Khan, a spokesman for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said that PALPA presented three demands, including withdrawal of show-cause notices and inquires and dismissal of Director Flights Operation. “These demands are unacceptable to the management,” he said. The talks, he said, continued for four hours without any breakthrough.
“We are open to negotiations, but there shall be no pre-conditions. PAPA President Amir Hashmi has refused to budge on his demands,” he said. The spokesman commended the pilots who did not affect the flight operation despite PALPA’s pressure.
He suggested that four senior pilots of PIA, four members of PALPA and two independent observers can sit together and resolve the issue amicably. He said that PIA’s Hajj operation was not affected despite the row between PALPA and management.
