BAHAWALPUR/BHALWAL/OKARA - Municipal Corporation Bahawalpur launched a grand operation against the encroachments in the Walled City of Bahawalpur.
According to the details, on directions of Mayor Municipal Corporation Aqeel Najam Hashmi, a team under the supervision of MOR M Anwar Malik and In-charge Encroachments Team Masood Lodhi consisting of Municipal Corporation’s staff conducted a grand operation against the illegal encroachments at Farid Gate, Fish Market, Shahi Bazaar, Fateh Khan Bazaar, Jeweller Market, and Model Town B. During the operation, they ensured the elimination of shops extended out of their boundary and stalls established outside the shops.
At this time, MOR M Anwar Malik said that operations were being conducted throughout Punjab against the encroachments and in accordance with Government’s Policy and directions of Mayor Municipal Corporation and Chief Officer Syed Mazhar Hussain Bukhari, operation against encroachments within the walled city was being conducted and in the coming days it would expand to the other areas of the city. He added that according to the Government’s directives, elements establishing encroachments would be discouraged.
In BHALWAL, the anti-encroachment operation, led by Assistant Commissioner Abdullah Khurram Niazi, continued. According to official sources, encroachments were removed from Post Office Road, Sarai, and bus stands. From the Post Office Road, illegal kiosks, shops, and the chambers established by lawyers were also removed.
Following the anti-encroachment policy of the government, the drive is continued without any discrimination of landlords and the poor, lawyers or the general public since all are being treated equally. Local people feel satisfaction over operations as roads are now open to walk and travel that was difficult in past. In OKARA, Deputy Commissioner Rizwan Nazir led a team comprising municipal encroachment staff, local police and other officials of departments concerned in an ongoing anti encroachment drive under Clean and Green Pakistan slogan.
They removed all kinds of encroachments from GT Road, 4/L Distributary Bridge, Kot Ameer Ali Shah graveyard, MA Jinnah Road, Satghara Chowk, Okara-Faisalabad Road, and Depalpur Chowk. District Monitoring Officer M Ashfaq supervised the anti-encroachment drive.
The tehsil administrations of Depalpur and Renala Khurd also removed encroachments in their areas. The deputy commissioner said that the anti-encroachment drive would be continued till completion of the target.
