Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has condemned the arrest of party president and said that the detention of PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif just days before the by-elections was proof that the government is scared of PML-N.

Reacting to the arrest of Shehbaz, PML-N, in a series of tweets, said, “Arrest of Shehbaz Sharif without prior consent of National Assembly Speaker is violation of the rule of law.” The party’s Twitter added that the unfortunate history of use of NAB against the political opponents is being repeated once against.

The party further said that the PML-N bravely faced the nasty tenure of former president Pervez Musharraf and such tactics are not new for them.

Shehbaz Sharif had clearly mentioned facts and figures about the Ashiyana Housing Scheme in his press conference on 22nd January,” said a press release sent by the PML-N.

“The PML-N is reviewing the situation thoroughly and will announce future line of action after consultation with the party leadership,” the party said.

Shehbaz will be presented in accountability court tomorrow (Saturday).

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday arrested former chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif in 'Ashiana Company' case. The PML-N president was detained in NAB Lahore office in relation to Ashiana Company case.

NAB alleged that the former CM misused his authority during his tenure as Punjab chief minister and was involved in corruption.
