Rally against likely LB system’s termination

GUJRANWALA  -  A rally left for Lahore to record their protest against the government for expected termination of the current local bodies system on Thursday.

Hundreds of union council chairmen participated in the rally which led was by Mayor Municipal Corporation Sheikh Sarwat Ikram and Chairman District Council Mazher Qayyum Nahra.

It was told that the rally would reach outside Punjab Assembly and record protest against the likely termination of present local bodies system.

Meanwhile, the Environment Department, during an anti-smog campaign, sealed four metal factories and also issued dozens of challans to smoke emitting rickshaws here on Thursday.

A large number of rickshaw drivers staged a protest demonstration against anti-smog teams. It was told that environment department carried on its anti-smog campaign. Besides sealing the furnace factories, dozens of four stroke rickshaws were issued challan tickets for polluting the atmosphere.

Resultantly, dozens of rickshaw drivers gathered in front of DC office and protested against this campaign by blocking the road. The protesters said that they could not purchase the new two stroke rickshaw.

They demanded that the district administration either stop issuing them challan tickets or provide them financial aid to purchase two stroke rickshaws.
