ISLAMABAD - The city managers approached Islamabad High Court against the suspension of a sentence an[1]nounced by the Senior Special Magistrate of CDA to the owner of Ghouri Town over harming the en[1]vironment. The Senior Special Magistrate CDA Sardar Muhammad Asif, in last month awarded three years of imprisonment and imposed Rs1.5 billion fine upon the Chief Execu[1]tive Officer of Ghori Town named Chaudhry Usman. However, an additional sessions judge granted bail to Chaudhry Usman in the case and suspended the orders of senior special magis[1]trate CDA. The Director General Law Naeem Dar along with the CDA counsel Hasnain Hayder Taheem advocate on Monday appeared be[1]fore the Islamabad High Court and pleaded that the orders of the ad[1]ditional session judge are against the law as the accused could only file appeal against the decision of senior special magistrate accord[1]ing to law. Chief Justice Athar Minal[1]lah heard the arguments and re[1]strained sessions court from fur[1]ther proceedings in the case and called the accused in person on next date of hearing. Chaudhry Usman, the CEO of Ghori Town was accused of nar[1]rowing down the Korang Riv[1]er as well as cutting off hundreds of trees to curve residential and commercial plots in the housing society.
