Cipher case to be heard in open court, declares IHC

ISLAMABAD  -  The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday declared that hearing of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s bail peti­tion in the cipher case registered un­der Official Secrets Act, will be held in an open court.

A single bench of IHC comprising Chief Justice of IHC Justice Aamer Fa­rooq announced the verdict in an ap­plication of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) seeking in-camera pro­ceedings of the case. The IHC bench said that open court hearing of the bail petition will be held on October 9. However, it said that arguments by lawyers on documents regarded as Chief of Army Staff Gen Syed Asim Munir, mem­bers of the cabinet, pro­vincial chief ministers and the high level government officials, PM Office Media Wing said in a press re­lease. The ministries ap­prised the forum about the practical steps under­taken during the last one month to improve busi­ness and investment en­vironment in the country. The committee expressed overall satisfaction over the ongoing negotiations with foreign and domes­tic investors for timely re­alisation of various in­vestment prospects. The prime minister appreciat­ed the good work put forth by various ministries and departments and direct­ed to continue with the ‘Whole of the Government’ approach to overcome economic challenges be­ing faced by Pakistan. The chief of army staff assured unflinching resolve of Pa­kistan army to support the government’s endeavours for a sustainable path to­wards economic recovery.
