KARACHI - Lawyers observed complete boycott in City Courts and Malir Court on Thursday against not-reinstatement of the deposed judges. On the call of Pakistan Bar Council, the lawyers boycotted the legal proceedings in the said courts and staged protest agitation in the premises of the both the court buildings. The lawyers were carrying placards, banners with slogans inscribed like, 'Go Zardari Go'. They also chanted slogans against the government and urged the government to fulfil their demands. The demonstrations continued for hours. The judges at the both courts, however, remained present in their chambers to carry on the usual court proceedings. The lawyer's fraternity vowed to continue their struggle till achieving their targets what they said was for the independence of judiciary. Meanwhile, a general body meeting of Karachi Bar Association was held at Shuhda-i-Punjab Hall of the City Courts in which member of Sindh Bar Council Sallahudding Gandapori, acting President of Karachi Bar Association KBA Mushtaq Jahangiri and others office bearers of KBA and seniors lawyers were also present. The lawyer leaders alleged in their addresses that the current rulers too were following the policies of the former President Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf to restrict the independence of judiciary. Demanding the restoration of the judiciary as per November 2 last, through an executive order, the added that the lawyers could not compromise on their movement launched for the cause of free judiciary. They demanded the action must be taken against the former President General (retd) Parvez Musharraf under the article of 6, and he might not be allowed to quit the country. They said that the elected peoples' representatives had failed to fulfil their promises, even when the people gave them mandate in the name of restoration of free judiciary.
