Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday announced to extend the service term of Chairman Competition Commission of Pakistan by one month. Talking to media in an inaugural function of a housing scheme Gulshan-e- Maymar in Governor House Krachi, On Friday, an order issued by the PM Secretariat announced the removal of Khalid Mirza from the office of Chairman CCP with immediate effect. However, sudden termination of his services led an outcry among the national press and financial sector. It was widely being considered that Mirza was victimized for his recent criticism on the government for its handling of sugar crisis. The PM announced the extension of his services while addressing a ceremony in Governor House held to mark the launch of a public housing scheme. The PM praised the services of Mirza as CCP Chairman and denied the impression that he was sacked on bringing the sugar crisis in the limelight. The PM said in his address that among other issues sugar crisis and price hike would also be discussed in a high level meeting scheduled to be held next week.
